Samsung Galaxy S3 most popular Android phone ever, says Vodafone

Vodafone has declared Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, the most popular Android handset in history, following record pre-orders for the device.
The Galaxy S3 builds on the success of Samsung's Galaxy S II device with a customised build of Google's Android 'Ice Cream Sandwich' 4.0 running on a fast quad-core Exynos processor. Although the Super AMOLED HD panel lacks the company's 'Plus' branding, the screen is bright and clear - as our hands-on with the device at its launch showed.
While we were somewhat underwhelmed by the device - which is clearly evolutionary rather than revolutionary - buyers apparently think differently: according to mobile giant Vodafone, the Galaxy S3 is the most popular Android handset it has ever seen.
Speaking to The Inquirer, a Vodafone spokesperson claimed that the device has topped the charts as the network's most pre-ordered Android phone in history. While the spokesperson was quiet on absolute figures, that's impressive enough - and there's still a week to go to the official launch.
The popularity of the device is good news for Samsung, which has had a hard road to the Galaxy S3's launch having seen its exclusive voice recognition software leaked for use on other handsets and the clever wireless charging dock delayed until after the handset's launch.
